About

A working relationship, not a performance of expertise.

Gavin Hassett is a wellness coach, sober companion, and interventionist based in Austin, TX, available to travel. The work is practical presence: structure, advocacy, and meeting people where they are.

How he works

Gavin brings a grounded, steady presence, shaped by years of hands-on caregiving and a commitment to whole-person wellness. He provided 24/7 care for a family member living with advanced dementia and co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions — navigating daily hurdles with patience, structure, and advocacy.

That experience taught him the value of consistent support, clear communication, and meeting people exactly where they are. He has offered sober support and initiated interventions across more than twenty years, and he draws on his own recovery.

Coaching here means helping people rebuild routines, stay engaged with their care plans, and move forward with clarity and self-respect. Wellness support is rest, movement, food, and the social calendar — not a branded lifestyle program.

Training

Human Potential Institute. CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Kids, FitAlign, and P90X. American Council on Exercise. NASM Nutrition. CPR and First Aid. These inform the work; they are not a claim that companion or coaching work is licensed therapy or medical treatment.

The practice is professionally insured (liability). Certificates are available privately on request; they are not posted here.

When clinical care is needed, the honest move is to say so and help find it — not to stretch a companion role to cover it.

Austin, TX. Available to travel. Outside of work: disc golf, writing, and staying useful to family and friends.

How to begin

Write or call with as much or as little as you are ready to share. You do not need a polished summary. A first conversation is for fit: timing, intensity, travel, and whether another kind of help is the better next step.
